Wednesday Wonderings: 25 February 2015

Some of you may have noticed the titles of my past few posts, or not. I’m hoping to put up a post on Monday (Movie Monday), Wednesday (Wednesday Wonderings) and Friday (Fiction Friday). It may not happen every week, but surely even I can find one movie and one book/short story to talk about each week. We’ll see!

Today’s wonderings is brought to you by all the Aurealis Awards reading I’ve plowed through over the past few months. I was a judge for the science fiction novel category this past year, and I think all those novels (both good and not so good) have inspired me a little. I can feel the urge to write returning, which is weird. I’ve not felt like I HAD to write in a very long time. But then that stupid part of my fucking awful brain is all like “you just want to write so you don’t have to deal with reality” and I kinda wonder if that’s true. If having some other world to write about means I don’t have to be in this one, where I am struggling, then I think that’s where I want to be right now.

How about you? Do you write to escape this world? Do you HAVE to write? What inspires you to write (not where you get your inspiration)?

I have to write. but I don’t then my creativity gets all stopped up and stagnates and too much time passes and I forget that you need to write write write in order to get better at writing. What inspires me to write? A sudden realisation of creative stagnation more than anything!

You do need to write write write! I totally forget that. I’m so glad my mojo is returning. And yes, totally, creative stagnation can be a wonderful incentive.
      Thanks for sharing, Jessie!
